TWO DONEGAL FOOTBALLERS are on the short list for the Ulster GAA Writers’ Association’s ladies footballer of the year award.

Geraldine McLaughlin of Termon and Yvonne McMonagle from Glenfin have been nominated alongside Aimee Mackin from Armagh.
The duo were instrumental as Donegal (pictured above) won a first ever Ulster senior ladies title this summer.
McLaughlin hit a lethal 2-7 in their Ulster final win over Monaghan in Clones as the O’Harte Cup came to Donegal for the first time.
McMonagle had netted a staggering 6-5 in the 10-35 to 0-4 rout over Down in June and she had a real influence in July when Davy McLaughlin’s team tasted glory – she was the Player of the Month for July.

After hitting five points in the 3-19 to 1-7 semi-final win over Tyrone and scored three points in the final.

Donegal’s campaign was ended by Armagh in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

The Quinn Building Products Ulster GAA Writers Association Annual Awards Banquet will be held at the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran, on Friday, November 13.
