Donegal Hospice have hailed Rory McIlroy and Ballyliffin Golf Club after receiving a €100,000 windfall today.

After playing in today’s Pro-Am at the 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Ballyliffin, McIlroy confirmed the donation, raised via a combination of the European Tour, Rory Foundation, Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and Ballyliffin Golf Cub.

McIlroy’s Rory Foundation host this week’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open on the Glashedy Links course at Ballyliffin with world number eight McIlroy hoping to emulate his win from two years ago at The K Club.

“We at Donegal Hospice are delighted with the very generous donation from the Rory Foundation,” Donegal Hospice Chairperson Grace Boyle said.

“We know that John Farren of Ballyliffin Golf Club worked tirelessly to secure this donation for us and spoke directly with Rory McIlroy.

“We are of course very grateful to him and all at Ballyliffin Golf Club for proposing Donegal Hospice.

“Rory McIlroy said he was delighted he was delighted to support a charity in the area the Irish Open was taking place. We are eternally grateful for this wonderful gesture.”
