TÍR CHONAILL GAELS  sealed their seventh London SFC in the last 11 years having defeated St Kieran’s at a windy Ruislip this afternoon.

Tir Chonaill Gaels 3-10 St Kiernan’s 1-12

Dungloe’s Adrian Hanlon grabbed an early point and then smashed home a 13th minute goal for the side from Greenford, moments before getting black-carded.

On the quarter-hour, Seamus ‘Nanny’ Friel from Fanad scored a second goal for Gaels but from then until half-time it was St Kieran’s who seized the advantage and were 1-6 to 2-2 in front at half-time.

Gaels had Brian Duffy to thank for a 44th minute goal to get back on track as Friel, who scored 1-3 in all including two pointed frees, also found his shooting boots.

Ashley Carr from Kilcar was a 48th minute sub for Gaels, who had Letterkenny native Brian McBrearty as part of the coaching staff as well as being substitute goalkeeper. It’s the former St Eunan’s clubman’s eighth London title. JP O’Donnell from Dungloe is also a selector.

Now, Gaels progress to an All-Ireland quarter-final date with Munster champions Clonmel Commericals, which will be played on Ruislip on the weekend of December 12/13.
