DONEGAL CLUBS involved in Championship action on Saturday-week have been given the opportunity to change the throw-in times of their games.
There are 18 Championship games scheduled for that evening, September 14th, with the All-Ireland final replay between Dublin and Kerry taking place the same evening at 6pm in Croke Park.
On Sunday, Dublin and Kerry played out a 1-16 apiece draw on a day for the ages as Dublin’s drive-for-five was delayed at least.
With the club championships in full swing from this weekend, the Donegal competitions controls committee (CCC) have said that the games cannot be moved to the Sunday, due primarily to a shortage of referees.
However, clubs could make applications to have the games played earlier on the Saturday.
A statement posted following last night’s county committee meeting said:
“The All-Ireland final replay is scheduled for 6.00 pm on Saturday September 14th.
“There are 18 championship games scheduled in Donegal that evening. The CCC are not in a position to move these games to Sunday 15th, a key reason being the unavailability of enough referees.
“However, if contacted by clubs the CCC will consider re-scheduling the times of games – eg to 2.00 and 3.30 ,if requested, and the changes are agreeable to the clubs concerned.”
