Olympians Mark English and Brendan Boyce, both from Letterkenny AC, were honoured for qualifying for the Olympic Games, English having competed in the 800m and Boyce in the men’s 50k race walk in Rio.

Four Donegal athletes were honoured in their categories: Joseph Gillespie of Finn Valley AC in the Under-15 Boys section after a year that saw him set a new Irish Under-13 high jump record of 1.56metres; Finn Valley’s Hannah Murray won the Under-15 Girls section; Fodhla McFadden from Rosses AC collected the gong in the Under-19 Girls; and Gavin Crawford from Lifford-Strabane AC took the prize in the Under-19 Boys category.
