Four Donegal boxers were celebrating final wins at the Ulster 9 County Championships for Boy/Girl 4,5,6,7 at the Shantallow Community Centre.

Raphoe pair Eoin McGarrell and Liam McMonagle were victorious while Dunfanaghy’s Oisin Wallace and Convoy’s Ryan Ward-Mulrine toasted success.

McGarrell defeated Christopher Fisher in the Boy 7, 56kgs decider.

McGarrell took a narrow 3-2 decision from the judges, though the Raphoe ABC puncher seemed to have had a better grasp of the contest than the result showed.

His club-mate McMonagle overcame Michael O’Donnell from Illies 4-1. McMonagle turned in a fine display to take the Boy 6, 66kgs title.

Last weekend, Raphoe’s European bronze medallist and double Irish champ Leah Gallen took the Junior 1 66kgs title thanks to a unanimous decision win over Eireann McGrath of Ederney.

Wallace took the Boy 5, 70kgs crown thanks to a superb 5-0 win over Conor Donnelly from Rathfirland. Wallace took a unanimous decision win to leave the victor.

Ward-Mulrine left with the Boy 7, 69kgs crown after his opponent, Barney Corcoran, didn’t take to the canvas.

Raphoe man Oisin McHugh had to withdraw from his final against Jack McGivern due to flu.

Cormac Hall (Dunfanaghy), Bernie McDonagh (Dunfanaghy), Liam Crawford (Raphoe), Cahir Gormley (Illies), Andrew Cunningham (Carndonagh), Seanna Jackson (Dunfanaghy) and Leon Ward (St John Bosco) all lost out in their finals.

There were walkover wins for the following Donegal boxers: Jason Lynch from Illies (Boy 4, 36kg), Daniel Campbell of St Bridget’s (Boy 5, 66kgs), Dunree duo Anna Doherty (Girl 5, 43kgs) and Brendan Collins (Girl 4, 45kg), St Bridget’s duo Chloe McGonigle (Girl 4, 53kg) and Amy Doherty (Girl 4, 57kg), Shania McCloskey of Carndonagh (Girl 5, 60kg) and Cody Lafferty from Raphoe (Girl 6, 48kgs).
