Defeats for O’Donnell and Wallace in finals leave Donegal boxers empty handed this time

Donegal had no winners from the Boy 1, 2 and 3 Championships this week after defeats for Dominic O’Donnell and Oisin Wallace in their finals today.

O’Donnell lost out to Tommy Lee from Bracken in the Boy 2 54kgs final at the National Stadium in Dublin.

Lee stopped the Carndonagh ABC man in the first round of their contest.

Lee had also recorded a first round stoppage in his semi-final, against Birr’s Philip Donoghue.

Dungloe ABC’s Wallace, meanwhile, suffered a unanimous decision loss against Docklands’ James Whelan in the Boy 3 56kgs final.

Wallace scored a brilliant semi-final win over Our Lady Of Lourdes boxer Michael Faulkner yesterday – but the final proved a step too far.

Last night, Carndonagh’s Ben Clarke lost out to Conhuir Johnston from All Saints in the Boy 1 46kgs final.

In all, Donegal had seven boxers at the finals.
