THE DR MCKENNA CUP will run into February following the postponement of this evening’s semi-final between Donegal and Armagh.

Heavy snowfall in the north-west meant that MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey was deemed unplayable when inspected by officials at 9:30am and the Ulster Council has confirmed the sides will now get the chance to lock horns on Saturday at 6pm, again at MacCumhaill Park.

With Tyrone already waiting in the wings in the final of the competition, which had been penciled in for Sunday, the decision was made not to have the winners of Donegal and Armagh playing twice in 24 hours, so the final has now been moved to the weekend of February 17/18.

Declan Bonner’s Donegal open their Allianz League Division 1 campaign with an away fixture against Kerry in Killarney on Sunday, January 28, before welcoming Galway to Letterkenny’s O’Donnell Park on Sunday, February 4. Six nights later Donegal make the trip to Croke Park to play All-Ireland champions Dublin.
