Date fixed for GAA County Final replay

The 2020 Senior County Final replay has been fixed for Wednesday week.

Donegal GAA’s Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) yesterday evening decided that the game should be replayed after finding that Naomh Conaill were in breach of a regulation.

On August 14, Naomh Conaill won 4-2 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out following a 2-7 to 0-13 draw after extra time at Sean MacCumhaill Park.

However, in the days after the game, Kilcar asked the CCC to probe a possible breach of regulation.

The Towney club claimed that Naomh Conaill had used more than the permitted number of substitutes.

The CCC confirmed today the replay will take place next Wednesday, September 8th, at 8 pm in MacCumhaill Park.

“There will be knock-on effects for the scheduling of the league games of the Senior Championship (2021) – the precise details of any changes are still to be formalised,” said the County Board in a statement today.

There will be no impact on the Intermediate or Junior Championship nor is it anticipated that the knockout rounds and relegation play-offs for the Senior Championship will be affected.

Meanwhile, The Burn Road, Termon, will be the venue for the Division 3 promotion playoff between Fanad Gaels and Letterkenny Gaels to see who joins Buncrana in Division 2 next year. The game is scheduled for Sunday September 5th.
