Darts: Dermot McGuire wins Paddy Byrne Perpetual Cup

Dermot McGuire captured the Paddy Byrne Perpetual Cup for the third this following a brilliant display of darts.

McGuire had to overcome some of the best players in the area to clinch the title.

In  the final he defeated Kieran Gallagher from Ardara who was appearing in his first final 6-0 taking out 100 to win the match. He also hit a 180 on his way to victory and he overcame holder John Gallagher 3-2 in round two.

In the semis Dermot beat Andrew Gillespie 5-2 and Kieran beat Kenneth Kennedy also 5-2 while in the quarter finals Dermot beat five-times champion John McGinley 4-3, Kieran beat JP Byrne 4-1, Andrew beat Declan Quinn 4-2 and Kenneth beat Michael Curran 4-1.

Stephen Muirhead had the highest checkout of the match with 161 in round two. It was another excellent turnout with 58 throwers entering on the day in the 21styear of this great event.
