St Johnston won for the third time in the Championship this year as they overcame Newbuildings on Saturday by 42 runs.

Ian Macbeth’s men are in mid-table in the Championship, but scored a useful home win at the weekend.

Rammohan Goud top scored for the Saints with 42, while Andrew Fleming (above) weighed in with 37 and David Macbeth made 35 runs.

Peter Allen (4-35) was the pick of the Newbuildings bowlers on the day.

St Johnston reached 208 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs.

Allen scored 39 runs as Newbuildings reached 166, but with Fleming (3-32), Nathan Cole (2-21) and Jack Cole (2-26) in good form with the ball, it was St Johnston’s day.

The Donegal side are away to old rivals Glendermott on Saturday in the Sammy Jeffrey Shield before they host Killyclooney on Sunday in the League.
