There was a very good turnout for the annual Aileen Hallinan Memorial competition and fundraiser for the Donegal Hospice which is held every year during the Halloween Bank Holiday weekend.
This year the weather was a bit more clement for the brave souls who entered and supported this very needy cause and with the ever popular Scramble format things were always going to be tight at the top of the leaderboard.

But as usual the cream always rises to the top and it was the Team of Leo Sheehy (16), Tony McSherry (18), Cormac Doherty (18) and Martin McLaughin (21) who piped the field and chasing pack by just 1 point to take the honours with a great score of 52pts in a very tight contest.
The team of Brendan Murphy (9), Sean T Murphy (14), Barry Dillon (15) and Mark Monaghan (18) had to settle for second place on the day after heading a group of 3 teams all tied on 51pts, but their superior back 9 was enough to get them over the line on to the podium on a BOT.
Also just to note on how tight this competition was as 75% of the field were within just 4pts of the winners with scores of 49pts+ the norm in the good weather conditions. Thanks to all who entered and helped support this great cause.
Winter League
The second round of the match play in the Owen Mc Daid (Roe) Winter League takes place this weekend and all matches have to be played on or before Sunday 5th November.
There should be some very close matches over the weekend and the standout matches should be the pairing of Liam O’ Donnell & Mark Monaghan v Shaun Devlin & Henry Mc Daid and Derek Murphy & John Doherty v Liam Lynch & Patsy Gillespie. The full draw is posted on the clubhouse notice board and it’s up to both pairings to arrange their respective match.
Christmas Hamper
The qualifying for the Christmas Hamper has commenced and it will take 19 pts for 0-6 handicappers and 21 pts for 7 handicappers up to qualify. Hamper qualifying can be in conjunction with other competition formats.
Find the Joker Fundraising
The” Find the Joker” has a Jackpot of €975.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.
Membership Deal
There is a new membership deal available at present which includes G.U.I. and Insurance fees and start golfing from now until March 2019 and even better golf all year round.
