Could Jason Quigley make ring return in Eddie Hearn’s garden?

JASON Quigley could make his ring return in July – in Eddie Hearn’s back garden!

Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing have unveiled ambitious plans to hold unique shows this summer. The shows would be held at the headquarters of Matchroom in Brentwood, Essek, the house Hearn grew up in.

Among the cards Hearn is keen to stage includes the heavyweight clash of Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin.

Whyte-Povetkin was originally planned for the Manchester Arena on May 2, but the Covid-19 shutdown shelved those plans.

Quigley (18-1, 14KOs) was set to meet Jack Cullen (18-2, 9KOs) on the undercard while Katie Taylor had been slated to defend her WBA, IBF, WBO, WBC and Ring Magazine world lightweight titles against seven-time world champ Amanda Serrano.

Quigley is keen to get back into the ring – and would love the chance to get a backyard dustup on one of Hearn’s cards.

“Why not get Jack Cullen in Eddie Hearn’s garden?” Quigley said.

“It has been talked about and it is possible. It’s a big possibility, I think.

“This has got people chatting a lot. It would be something historic and it would be massive to be involved in it.”

Hearn says that getting the ‘Matchroom Fight Camp’ will be the biggest challenge of his career, but the legendary promotor is keen to make it happen. Boxing has been shutdown since March, but Hearn is hopeful of being able to make fights.

He aims to stage shows during July and August. His plans provide testing for Covid-19 and a week-long takeover of a hotel where fighters can self-isolate.

Hearn’s blueprint includes create a purpose-built gym in the hotel, wile the entire show will adhere to guidelines set out by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Hearn has already furnished the BBBC with his plans for the four fight nights.

Quigley insisted:  “I’m ready to rock!”
