Cockhill Youths continued their superb form as they defeated Carn to reach the Buncrana Credit Union Cup final.

Carn FC 1 Cockhill Youths (after extra time. Cockhill win 3-1 on penalties)

Carn had the first chance on 7 minutes when a Christy McDaid found  Tiernan Coyne who beat the defender and laid it off for Darragh Deery but he fired  wide from 15 yards.

Cockhill responded after 18 minutes when Adam McCarron made a pass to Mark McDaid who crossed for Darragh McDermott who headed low to the bottom but was well tidied up by Fergal Doherty in the Carn goal.

Carn responded midway through the half when a Ryan Kelly long pass from the back found Tiernan Coyne who went one on one with Kyle Douglal but shot wide from 20 yards.

Carn  broke the deadlock on 37 minutes when a Michael McDermott pass from midfield found Tiernan Coyne who went on an amazing run rounding the defender and shot high to the top right corner of the net from 10 yards.

Cockhill has a good chance to equalize just after half time when Ronan McLaughlin passed to Keegan Hegarty on the right wing and he crossed for Adam McLaughlin but he failed to hit the target from 12 yards.

Carn responded on 57 minutes when Girts Dzerins passed to Lorcan Bradley on the right  and he crossed for the unmarked  Dermot Doherty  but he shot over the bar from five yards.

Cockhill got the equaliser on 79 minutes when Mc Dermott went on a great run on the right wing and laid it off for Keegan Hegarty who drove a powerful low shot past Fergal Doherty to the bottom right corner of the net from outside the 18 yard box.

Cockhill almost snatched a winner on 85 minutes when Christopher Duffy went on a great run on the right wing beating the offside trap and squaring it for McDermott he fired wide from 12 yards.

Carn had a chance 7 minutes into extra time when sub Darragh Deery found Dzerins free on the right wing and he advanced before laying it off for Matthew McLaughlin who fired wide when well placed.

Cockhill went in the second half of extra time after a run from Mark McDaid on left wing crossed to find McDermott who shot over the bar from 10 yards.

In the shootout it was the young Cockhill side who kept their nerve and advanced to the final against Greencastle in two weeks.
