COCKHILL Celtic have been handed a home draw with SSE Airtricity League Premier Division side Longford Town in the third round of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Senior Cup.

The Ulster Senior League champions will take on Tony Cousins’s side on the weekend of August 23rd.

It will be the second trip to Donegal for Longford in this year’s competition after they overcame Finn Harps on penalties in a replay in the last round following a 0-0 draw at the City Calling Stadium.

Cockhill booked their place in the last round thanks to a 3-0 win over Leinster Senior League outfit St Mochta’s. Gerry Gill’s two penalties and a strike by Matthew Henry sealed the win.

Donal O’Brien stepped down as Cockhill’s manager in the aftermath of that win following a golden period of success for the club. A new management team of Daniel Nolan, Gavin Cullen and Shane Gallivan (pictured above) have assumed control at the Charlie O’Donnell Sports Grounds.

The third round draw was made at The Showgrounds in Sligo this morning.

Irish Daily Mail FAI Senior Cup Third Round: Cockhill Celtic v Longford Town; Tolka Rovers v Killester United; Galway United v Dundalk; Derry City v Drogheda United; Sheriff YC v Athlone Town; Bohemians v Bray Wanderers; Cobh Wanderers v Sligo Rovers; Cork City v St Patrick’s Athletic
