CCC liaising with clubs on date for re-fixed Under-21 semi-final

THE DONEGAL COMPETITIONS CONTROLS COMMITTEE (CCC) is liaising with the St Eunan’s and Aodh Ruadh clubs in an attempt to find a suitable date for the outstanding under-21 football championship semi-final.

On Sunday, the game was called off after the pitch at Pairc Eimead in Castlefin (pictured above) was deemed to have been unplayable.

That was the third occasion on which the game failed to proceed on an appointed date.

A week earlier, a clash with the Under-21 Hurling Championship match between the clubs meant it couldn’t go ahead, having fallen foul of the weather the previous week.

With weekends running out in 2015, the CCC is in something of a quandary.

This Sunday, St Eunan’s minors take on Slaughtneil in the Ulster Club Football Tournament at St Paul’s in Belfast while the following Saturday, St Eunan’s Under-21 hurlers are pencilled in for a semi-final against Buncrana.

The most likely scenario at this stage appears to be Sunday, December 13, prior to the County Convention that afternoon in the Mount Errigal Hotel.

Kilcar await the winners in the final.

This Sunday, Bundoran take on Glenfin at 1pm in the Under-21 B Football Championship quarter-final. Weather-permitting, the game is set to take place in Ballyshannon.
