Cumann Gailf Chloich Cheann Fhaola ran a very successful fundraiser last Sunday in support of the Save Ballyness Bay campaign.

30 Club Members gathered to raise money and to show support for the fundraiser. The Competition on the day was an 18 Hole Champagne Scramble.

The Save Ballyness Bay campaign is opposing several applications for fish-farming licences, in west Donegal, where upwards of 3,000 people have signed a petition supporting a campaign to stop shellfish farming in the area.

The proposed aquaculture application in Ballyness Bay have sparked concern among locals who fear the development will negatively impact the natural area and tourism.

Seán Ó Gallchóir, Oifigeach Caidrimh Phoiblí commented: “Cloughaneely Golf Club was delighted to support this campaign.

“There are certainly many valuable resources in this area and it is important to protect them. Many visitors come to this area and the development would have a huge impact on our area and environment.

“As a golf club, we strongly insist on this campaign.”

Golf Results from Sunday 6th October:

1st Mark McGinley, Owenie Pro, Shane Corless – 56 points

2nd Paul Doherty, Joe Doherty, Dan Mulhern – 52 points

3rd Martin Terry, Fergal Kilfeather, Patsy McVicar – 50 points

Cloughaneely Golf Club understands the importance of attracting tourists to the local area so they enjoy the natural beauty of the local landscape and that they can enjoy all the tourist attractions in the area. In Ballyness Bay they have one of the best beaches and scenic locations in County Donegal and we fully support their campaign.
