CARNDONAGH ABC hosted Donegal’s first boxing tournament of 2017 last night in The Malin Hotel.
Eleven contests filled the evening as Carn kicked the new year off.
Carndonagh star Jessica Clarke was beaten by Virginia’s Emma Feeney on a split decision. Clarke is a real rising star in Irish boxing and bouts are hard to come by for the teenager.
Feeney came up from County Cavan for the fight and edged Clarke out in an entertaining contest between two cracking young punchers.
[adrotate group=”81″]In one of the bouts of the night, St Canice’s David Brolly overcame Raphoe’s Eunan McLaughlin while Raphoe’s Oisin McHugh was nudged out by Brendan Newlan from St Canice’s.
Ben Clarke, Michael Hirrell, Andrew Cunningham and James Devlin were the Carndonagh ABC winners on the night.
Tonight, the local boxing action moves to the Ozanam Centre in Dunfanaghy as Dunfanaghy ABC host a major tournament.
