CHLOE MCDAID from Illies Golden Gloves overcame English opponent Jessica Pattinson on a night of history at the National Stadium in Dublin.

The Buncrana light-flyweight scored a unanimous decision win over Pattinson in a 50kgs contest in what was the first ever schoolgirl international to be hosted in Ireland.

Pattinson from Alnwick was no match for Little Miss Dynamite, who rounded off her best season yet with a win that ensures she ends the season unbeaten.

This year already, McDaid won her third Ulster title and also became the Irish Girl 3 50kgs champion in May when she defeated Sinainn Glynn from Offaly.

Tonight, the Donegal standout showed her worth with a superb display of boxing against Pattinson.

Indeed, IABA President Pat Ryan said it was the fight of the night.

One minute’s silence, called by MC and IABA Secretary Al Morris, was observed for the deceased and injured in Nice, France last evening.

Overall, the nigth ended tied at five wins apiece.

“It was great to get the win and it felt unbelievable boxing for Ireland,” McDaid told Donegal Sport Hub.

“It’s always brilliant to box at the National Stadium, but tonight was a bit more special to box for Ireland.”
