Charlie McGeever’s Tipperary well beaten by Kerry in All-Ireland minor final

CHARLIE MCGEEVER’S dreams of taking Tipperary to an All-Ireland Minor Football Championship turned into a nightmare.

Tipperary manager McGeever (pictured above), who is from Derryconnor, Gortahork, saw his side hammered 4-14 to 0-6 at Croke Park.

Brian Sweeney, two Conor Geaney penalties and Michael Foley were the goalscorers for Jack O’Connor’s Kerry, who defeated Donegal to win the title last year.

Kerry were in complete control from the start and led Tipperary 2-8 to 0-2 at half-time. The Tipperary panel is coached by Michael McGeehin from Letterkenny.

McGeever is a former teacher at St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny and managed Finn Harps, missing out on the 1999 FAI Cup having lost to Bray Wanderers in a second replay of the final.
