Conor Duggan’s brace and an 80th minute winner by Micheál Roarty secured the John Murphy Senior ‘B’ National Cup for Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair today at the Peacelink in Clones.

Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair are winners for the first time in 19 years as Roarty’s late strike secured the spoils in a tight contest with Gael Cholaiste Na Mara from Arklow.

Roarty brilliantly found the target for a memorable long-range winner that will go down in school folklore.

Duggan had given the lead with a third-minute header from Conor Ó Baoill’s cross, but Cal Kelly’s penalty brought Gael Cholaiste Na Mara level just six minutes later.

Just before half-time the Gaoth Dobhair side were in front again as Liam Wiggins’ cross was turned home by Duggan.

Gael Cholaiste Na Mar drew level again on 55 minutes as Darragh Fitzgerald’s free deceived Gavin Sweeney, the Gaoth Donbhair goalkeeper, but Roarty stepped up to bring glory to Gaoth Dobhair.
