EVERTON manager Carlo Ancelotti has likened Seamus Coleman to three of his most notable leaders from his former clubs.
Ancelotti, a three-time Champions League winning boss, has compared Coleman to the influence of Paolo Maldini, Sergio Ramos and John Terry.
Coleman has missed Everton’s last three games with an injury, but is tipped to return when the Toffees host Burnley this evening.
Ancelotti makes no secret of his admiration for the Killybegs man – whose return will also come as a timely boost for Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny.
“It is important for a manager to have in his squad a player who is setting the standards really high,” Ancelotti said.
“Seamus is an example for the others. In this sense, he is the same as John Terry, Paolo Maldini, Sergio Ramos; all great models for their teammates.”
Coleman won rave reviews for his performance in Everton’s recent win over Liverpool while Ancelotti highlighted his impact against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.
Ancelotti said: “Sometimes, you see players sitting on the bench not ready and not focused because they are not playing.
“But in that situation Seamus is a fantastic example. He is not happy if he doesn’t start but he is ready to play, even for one minute.
“Against Tottenham, he played really well with fantastic spirit and he would play with the same spirit for one minute.”
