Three first-half goals by Ryan Carlin set St Mary’s, Convoy on their way to Junior B championship glory in Ballybofey

St Mary’s, Convoy 3-12 Pettigo 0-12

Carlin’s treble, in the 5th, 14th and 24th minutes proved the difference as otherwise Pettigo matched the winners but couldn’t close the gap sufficiently to make a real contest of this final.

St Mary’s Convoy lead 3-5 to 0-7 at the break, Carlin fisting in crosses from David Shovlin and Peter Blake for his first and third goals and lobbing a beauty over keeper McBarren in between after Shovlin strong run and pass.

Carlin also pointed from close range while Shovlin, Peter Blake, Simon McGlynn and Connor Porter all chipped in with points. Pettigo battled hard throughout with Darren Johnston (0-2) , Paul Robinson ( 0-2 ) and Michael O Riordan ( 0-3 ) sharing their first-half scores.

Peter Blake (0-3), Simon McGlynn (0-3), kept the score board ticking over for Convoy in the second-half while O’Riordan, Robinson, Kevin and John Kane and Kieran McGee replied for Pettigo but points were never going to be enough to rescue this final and Convoy ran out comfortable winners on the back of a solid performance and Ryan Carlin’s hat-trick of first-half goals.
