Kilmacrennan’s Caolán Irwin had an impressive Superstock 600 BSB Championship race at Donington World Superbikes over the weekend – finishing an impressive 6th place in Sunday evening’s race.
His maiden year in this class has not seen him out of the top ten and he was the highest performing rookie 600cc rider of the weekend.
“This weekend at the World Superbikes has just been an amazing experience,” he said.
“I was running at the front in third for much of the race until I made a small mistake which you don’t get away with at this level and I am just so happy finish 6th.
“This is my rookie year in this Championship so I can’t believe that I have been consistently in the top ten.I feel now that I have proved my place and the next step is to get onto that podium for myself but especially for all my sponsors – James Gallagher of Oasis Bar Letterkenny, Wesley and Grace Ann Regan of Clean Rubber Donegal/Sligo, Denis Sheridan DS Waste Kilmacrennan, James Gibbons Electrical and the MCI.
“I just wouldn’t be here without their support.”
His next race is in three weeks time at Snetterton, UK.
