The final round of qualifying in the Owen McDaid (Roe) Mini Bus & Taxi Hire Winter League took place last weekend and the best score of the weekend was 45pts returned by Shane Devlin & Jonny Doherty.
Shane & Jonny played some great golf to amass 45pts in the scramble which not only secured them the weekly prize but also moved them into second place with the Saturday qualifiers and guaranteed them a bye into the second round of the match play.
Fiáchra O’ Flaherty & Martin Doherty secured overall top qualifiers position and are strongly fancied to take the winter league title this year.
This weekend Saturday & Sunday (November 24 -25) will see the players playing who failed to secure a bye into the second round playing off both in the qualifiers and non-qualifiers sections.
There will be six matches in the qualifiers section and four matches in the non-qualifiers section and the winners of these will then go into the hat next Sunday with the pairings who already secured byes.
Nine Hole Qualifying Sweep
There will be a nine-hole qualifying sweep this weekend Saturday (24th) & Sunday (25th November), so any pairings who have secure a bye or any members looking for a bit of competition there are no excuses.
Qualifying for Christmas Hamper
The qualifying for the Christmas Hamper has now commenced and the entrance fee is €4.00 with the re-entry €2.00. Qualifying for 0-6 players will take 20 pts and for the seven upward players, it will take 21 pts. With only three more weeks left of qualifying, there are only 12 players qualified for the Christmas Hamper.
Find the Joker Fundraising
The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €925.00, lines only cost €2.00 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Fundraising
The club will host a Quiz on Friday, November 23 at 8:30 p.m. in the clubhouse function room and all quiz enthusiasts are welcome. The entrance fee will be €5 and it promises to be a good night’s craic.
Then on Friday, November 30 there will a TEXAS HOLD’EM poker classic which will start at 8:30 p.m. sharp. The entrance fee will be €30.00 with €10.00 buy-in and there will be light refreshments provided on the night.
