Buncrana Golf Club has another busy week of action in the third round of the Owen McDaid Winer League, get all the results of last weeks action below.

Owen McDaid (Roe) Mini – Bus & Taxi Hire Winter League

The third round of the Owen Mc Daid (Roe) Mini Bus & Taxi Hire Winter League took place last weekend and it’s now at the halfway stages of the qualifying.

The format last weekend was betterball and the best score of the weekend was 45 pts returned by Caolan Mc Laughlin (15) & Darragh O’ Connor (24).

Caolan and Darragh needed this score after a poor return in the first betterball format and this score moves them into contention for qualifying for the match play stages.

With the leaderboards starting to take shape last years winners the father & son combination of Francis & Nathaniel McGrory are top of the Saturday players.

Club Golfer of The Year Oliver Doherty & the evergreen Mickey Mc Cann who were late entrants to the competition are now sitting well clear of the Sunday players and will be formidable opponents for any pairings in the match play stages.

Competition – The Aileen Hallinan Memorial Open Stableford Scramble

The Winter League will take a break this weekend in order for the Aileen Hallinan Memorial Open Stableford Scramble to be played. The format will be any combination with 1/7 of the combined handicap and 3 tee shots to count from each player. This competition will be played over Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th & Monday 29th October and it’s fundraiser in aid of the Donegal Hospice. The organisers would appreciate a good turnout from the local golfing fraternity for this very worthy cause.

Qualifying for Christmas Hamper

The qualifying for the Christmas Hamper has now commenced and the entrance fee is €4.00 with the re-entry €2.00. Qualifying for 0-6 players will take 20 pts and for the 7 upward players it will take 21 pts.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €850.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.
