KIERAN MCDAID AND Jonny Bonner were collecting silverware again this afternoon as part of the IT Carlow A squad that won the Umbro Cup.

Their 1-0 win over IT Carlow B was the fifth time in a row they’d lifted the trophy, adding to the Colleges and Universities Football League Division 1 title. Then, Bonner scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa from Cork at Hadden Park in Killester.

This afternoon at the RSC in Waterford, Dean Broaders scored the only goal of the cup final, with McDaid starting in midfield and Bonner introduced to the fray on the hour mark.

Both men are from Buncrana with Bonner on the books of Wexford Youths and looking ahead to the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division, which kicks off next week.

McDaid spent the second half of last season at Finn Harps having helped the Inishowen League win the Oscar Traynor Cup last season. He’s currently playing for Buncrana Hearts.
