A ten-year-old Inver schoolboy is making a real name for himself in the darts world.

Alex Hughes, a fourth class pupil at Frosses NS, is competing against – and sometimes beating – top adult players.

Alex is already playing with the Donegal county team having first taken to the oche for a tournament last January.

In November, Alex defeated Campbell Jackson – who has played in the PDC competitions in the past – at Blacklion, Cavan.

At a recent competition at the M25 in Glenties, Alex threw five 180s and at the West Coast Challenge he didn’t lose any of his games having traveled to represent Donegal.

Alex throws under the moniker of ‘The Hunter’ and has played against some of Ireland’s top young players – like Jordan Boyce, the Newtowncunningham man who was World Youth finalist in 2016, and Killian Heffernan.

Alex reached the final of a Youth Tournament in Glenties last week and will be lining up tonight at M25 in Glenties in a new Youth League.

His next rankings tournament will take place on May 20.
