FINN Valley’s Sommer Lecky has won a bronze medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
The Castlederg teenager leapt 1.74m before successfully attempting 1.80m for a new p.b in Tbilisi.
Lecky, who is coached by Niall Wilkinson, cleared the same height as the winner, Ekaterina Prikhodkova of Russia, and the silver medalist, Sweden’s Maja Helena Nilsson, but settled for third following a countback.
Lecky won a gold medal at the recent Schools Track and Field International in Scotland and reached the final having topped the bar at 1.72m, qualifying as one of the top 12.
Meanwhile, Arlene Crossan, another Finn Valley club member, finished ninth in the long jump final.
Brendan O’Donnell (Lifford AC) is in the hammer final on Friday while Finn Valley’s Aaron McGlynn is in the 800m final on Saturday.
