BUNDORAN kept their aspirations of reaching a third Donegal SFC quarter-final in succession flickering with an away win at Termon this afternoon with Paul and Jamie Brennan the goalscorers, writes Charlie Collins.

Termon 2-12 Bundoran 2-16

After a 0-15 to 1-5 loss to St Eunan’s last week, Bundoran are in with a shout thanks to their two county players, although Paul Brennan was dismissed in the last minute for a strike on Daire McDaid.

Termon, who won the County Minor Championship last year, saw McDaid and Enda McCormick score 1-10 between them and will be looking to keep their head above water over the next fortnight.

The home side started well and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Daire McDaid and Enda McCormick were both involved in a move and Steve McElwaine applied the finish past Ashley Mulhern.

Bundoran, with Gary Clancy back on board, were two down at the water-break, 1-4 to 0-5, but got themselves right back into things with a fantastic 17th minute goal. Paul Brennan started the move deep inside his own half and having linked with Timmy Govorov and Alan Russell, hammered past Emmett Maguire in the Termon goal.

Four minutes later another Bundoran goal made for a 2-5 to 1-5 lead for the away side. This time the move was started by a Ciaran McCaughey catch and his ball in found Jamie Brennan, who finished coolly. The Donegal corner-forward kept the scoreboard ticking over and it was 2-9 to 1-7 for Bundoran at the break.

The returning Clancy might’ve added a third goal in the 38th minute but opted to punch over and when Cian McEniff added a point four minutes later it was 2-13 to 1-8 for Bundoran.

Francie Friel was fielding a young team and they certainly made a fist of it with Enda McCormick scoring a goal on 43 minutes having taken a Daire McDaid pass. McDaid also hit the crossbar late on but it was Bundoran who came through.
