DECLAN and Brian Boyle will be hoping to change their luck next Sunday in the Smartpart ALMC Stages Rally in Trim, County Meath.

The Boyle cousins from Lettermacaward, who exited the Joule Donegal International Rally last weekend when the WRC Fiesta encountered its latest bout of mechanical difficulty.

They were almost two minutes ahead heading into the final stage of day two in Donegal when the gearbox failed and their event was over.

It has been a torrid year for the Boyles so far, but they did win the Circuit of Kerry.

With over 40 UK-based teams travelling to participate in the rally alongside teams from all across Ireland, Trim is set to be a hive of activity.

The Boyles, the 2014 Irish Tarmac Champions, are at the head of the entry list for Sunday’s event.

The Boyles will also compete in the Lurgan Park Rally on Saturday before heading for Trim.

Next on the road in Trim will be the current Triton Showers National Rally Championship leaders, Roy White and James O’Brien, also in a Fiesta WRC.

Michael Boyle, Declan’s son, and Dermot McCafferty won the Junior title last weekend in Donegal and will also enter the junior rally in Meath.
