DONEGAL Olympian Brendan Boyce has had his funding from Sport Ireland increased to the maximum amount ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Boyce is one of 16 Olympic-eligible sportspeople to be funded to the maximum €40,000 annually from Sport Ireland under the ‘Podium’ heading.
Milford native Boyce is one of three athletes – alongside Thomas Barr and Ciara Mageean – awarded the full ‘Podium’ package.
Sport Ireland today announced a funding increase of 12.5 per cent from the 2019 packages. The investment rises from €32million to €36million.
Boyce has already qualified for the 2020 Olympics, where he will compete in the men’s 50k race walk/
