FIVE OF THE REMAINING FINALS at the Donegal Novice Championships took place in Buncrana last night.

Following a hectic day of action on Sunday, five finals were carried into last night with another two still to be scheduled.

Cathal Browne of the Illies Golden Gloves took a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Smith from Dungloe in the Boy 2 75kgs decider with a tilt at an Ulster crown now on Browne’s radar.

Raphoe’s Liam Crawford was impressive for a 3-0 success against Letterkenny BC’s Seamus Browne at Boy 1 44kgs while Stephen Duffy of Dunree scored a fine win over Malachy O’Flynn from Garrison in the Boy 2 42kgs final.

Dunfanaghy’s rising talent Bernie McDonagh took the spoils in the Boy 1 36kgs final against Eglinton puncher Ben Cooke while Ryan Haughey (Carrickmore) was the winner in a Boy 1 42kgs final against Lee Doherty (Raphoe).

Two semi-finals were also carried into last night. Paul Brogan from Letterkenny defeated Dylan McCullagh (Omagh) 2-1 and will now meet Oran Carton from Maydown in the Boy 1 39kgs final.

At Boy 2 39kgs, Padraig Lawlor of Dunree will meet Fionn McMonagle from Dunfanaghy. Last night, Lawlow defeated Cody Lee Peopls (Ballykelly).
