Bonner to tweak Donegal line-up for Monaghan visit

Declan Bonner is expected to make a handful of changes to the Donegal line-up for Sunday’s Dr McKenna Cup game against Monaghan in Clones (2pm).

Following a 2-15 to 0-6 hammering of Queen’s University in Ballybofey on Wednesday night, Donegal will look to take another step towards the latter stages of the pre-season competition.

With Bonner – pictured by Joe Boland, North West News Pix – rotating the goalkeepers Mark Anthony McGinley will come into the number 1 slot for Sunday’s meeting with the Farney.

Odhrán MacNiallais, back in tow after a year in a self-imposed inter-county exile, was named to start on Wednesday, but missed out due to flu. The Gaoth Dobhair man will be assessed closer to Sunday to determine his availability.

Red Hughs’ Stephen McMenamin is another who is likely to be in the mix for a start this weekend, while Eoghan Ban Gallagher is said to be unavailable.

One man who is definitely out is Cian Mulligan, who injured a quad during the second half of Wednesday night’s game.

Mulligan had scored two points and was denied a goal when he hit the post.
