Chloe and Sam Magee are into the last 32 of the BWF World Championships in Scotland.

The Magee siblings from Raphoe defeated American pair Yan Tuck Chan and Yuko Kawasaki in their opening mixed doubles game.

The Magees won 21-6 21-11 to move into the last 32.

Tomorrow, at the 6,000 capacity Emirates Arena, the Donegal duo face Japanese duo Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino, who are 16th seeds and the world number 22s.

In May, they won a bronze medal at the European Championships, defeating Polish pair Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba in Denmark, before missing out in the semi-final against Denmark’s Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Joshua and Sam Magee will take on Bastian Kersaudy and Julien Maio from France in their opening round game later this afternoon.
