Audio: Wexford manager expects Harps to remain in title chase

WEXFORD Youths manager Shane Keegan believes Finn Harps will still be in the promotion hunt when his side visit Finn Park in the final game of the season.

Danny Furlong’s two goals at Ferrycarrig Park lifted Wexford above Harps and onto the top of the First Division.

With just a quarter of the season to go, Wexford now lead the way and have a game in hand on Harps – but Keegan hasn’t ruled out a big push from Ollie Horgan’s side.

“I would be amazed if we go to Ballybofey and Finn Harps are in a position where they’re out of the race,” Keegan told Donegal Sport Hub.

“I think if they beat us up there, they’ll win the League title. They’re that good.

“I know Ollie very well. He’s the manager I’d be closest to – there’s no better man to make sure that corrections are made and to get a reaction.”

Wexford are now in pole position to take the automatic promotion spot by way of winning the division.

Keegan said: “It has been the aim since the start of the season. We firmly believed that it was the season that it could be done.”

Keegan has hailed Furlong’s importance to the Youths’ cause.

He said: “I think he’s the best finisher in the country at any level. His all-round game is very good. He works so hard and that’s great to see.”
