Audio: ‘It’s only a start’ says Ollie Horgan after Finn Harps defeat Derry City

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF IT all was meaningless for Ollie Horgan, who was just thankful to see his Finn Harps side get life in the Premier Division off to a winning start.

The euphoric scenes in Ballybofey told the story of one of the most memorable derbies Harps have ever enjoyed.

Goals in either half by Dave Scully and Ryan Curran shot Harps to a first win over their neighbours in almost 16 years.

It is 18 years since Harps’ last – and only previous – League win over Derry, way back in February 1998.

“It’s only a start,” Horgan told Donegal Sport Hub.

“It’s three points we didn’t expect if we’re honest, but we’ll take it because we’re looking down the line at where the next three points will come from. It doesn’t matter where you pick the points up, so long as you pick them, up.

“There are 32 games to go and it’s a start – that’s all, but it might take a little bit of the pressure off.

“We will be at the bottom end of the table, there is no doubt about that, but we want to compete and want to make it difficult.”
