WITH Finn Valley Athletic Club’s Sommer Lecky winning a bronze medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi, Karl Griffin and Mark English performing so well, Patsy McGonagle speaks with Charlie Collins.
McGonagle, the current chairman of Finn Valley AC and Irish Athletics team manager, believes Griffin has a chance of Olympic qualification after his sixth placed finish at the European U-23 Championships in Estonia, while English booked his place at next summer’s Olympics in Rio.
“Mark competed extremely well in London,” McGonagle said. “He’s back on his game again. He’s got time now to get it together and focus. His top end speed is absolutely brilliant. We could be getting excited going into Rio.”
