Audio: Ollie Horgan felt Lady Lucky shone on Finn Harps again last night

OLLIE HORGAN was delighted that Lady Luck perhaps finally decided to side with Finn Harps last night.

Although the Harps manager felt that the decision to award Sligo Rovers a penalty in the final minute wasn’t the correct one, Horgan felt his side deserved a point at The Showgrounds.

Horgan was livid when Ethan Boyle was deemed to have fouled Craig Roddan, but Raffaele Cretaro skied the penalty and the 0-0 draw was Harps’ first point in ten games and ended a nine-match losing streak.

“We have been stuck on 23 points for the last three months and it wasn’t a lucky number. I just hope that we’re not stuck on 24 now,” Horgan told Donegal Sport Hub after the game.

“We’re just glad to get a point on the board. The point that I keep saying is that if we can stay in this division it doesn’t matter what kind of a run we had.

[adrotate group=”38″]

“Stats of no goals or no wins doesn’t matter two jots. We went nine games beaten in a row, but we had positive records in the First Division last season and no-one cared.

“All that matter last year was that we got up into the Premier Division and all that matters this year is that we stay in it. Records? Not a jot. All that matters is that we stay up.”

While they had to endure late agony with the penalty award, Horgan felt that his team fully deserved the draw.

He said: “After the penalty decision against Cork a couple of weeks ago, I felt: ‘Here we go again’. From my view, it wasn’t a penalty. Maybe we have got the bit of luck tonight.

“Overall, I think it was a fair result. Sligo probably shaded it in the first half and we shaded it in the second half until we tired.

[adrotate group=”80″]

“I’m not one to give assumptions and I know Raff had a penalty at the end to win it, but I think it would have been unjust had he scored it. I thought we deserved the draw.

“ We tired at the end, but we had a serious game in Galway on Saturday night, but that isn’t an excuse. We had maybe the wee bit of luck we didn’t have over the last couple of months.”
