Audio: Letterkenny Rovers Youth manager Anthony Gorman aiming for five-in-a-row

LETTERKENNY ROVERS have been the dominant force in the Donegal Youth League of late and, ahead of another new season, team manager Anthony Gorman is hoping to retain the crown.

The Dick Duffy Memorial Cup has been a permanent resident at Leckview Park and the Cathedral Town side are aiming for five-a-row this season.

Nine teams will compete this season and Gorman has told of the importance of the Youth League.

“Over the last couple of years the standard has been quite good when teams are able to put out their full sides,” Gorman told Donegal Sport Hub.

“It’s been very important that clubs have teams in the Youth League, rather than play Saturday League football where they can get into bad habits.

“That’s not the way you want to see young players going. You want them playing as good a level as possible for as long as possible. Saturday fotoball has its purpose, but I don’t think that is to provide football for youth players.”
