Audio: Jerry Early keeps cautious as Arranmore United have title in sight

JERRY EARLY is ‘cautiously optimistic’ as his Arranmore United team head down the home straight with the Old Orchard Saturday Division title in sight.

The Islanders lead the way by two points and have a game in hand over nearest challengers, Orchard FC.

On Saturday in Rathmullan, Orchard snatched a dramatic draw with a 95th minute equaliser, but Early was quite content to leave with honours even.

He said: “When we walked in the door we had a game plan to get a point and we’re going home with a point.

“We defended brilliantly. We set the stall out to hit them on the break.”

Arranmore have a great defensive record with just eight goals conceded so far and they are favourites now with four games remaining.

Early said: “I would be cautious more than confident. We have four home games left so I don’t envy anyone who has to go out there.

“We are focused and we know that there is a lot of work still to be done.”
