SIX DAYS AFTER the Republic of Ireland made their exit from Euro 2016 following their 2-1 reversal against France, James McClean was in Letterkenny today.

The West Brom winger was at Brian McCormick Sports and Leisure for a meet and greet and McClean admits there’s still pain from the loss in Lyon last Sunday. Ireland had made the last 16 following a memorable 1-0 win over Italy in Lille.

“It’s kinda gutting to be home,” he said. “We were so close ourselves to knocking out France. But when the dust settles we’ll see. We put so much into the Italian game. France had the extra few days and the heat as well. There’s a number of things. Ten minutes of madness sent us home.”
