Audio: It’s ‘a lot done, more to do’ for Naomh Colmcille captain Gerard Curran

IT WAS A CASE of ‘a lot done, more to do’ for Naomh Colmcille captain Gerard Curran on Friday night.

Naomh Colmcille overcame Carndonagh 4-10 to 1-9 to advance to the semi-finals of the Intermediate Championship.

Joe Donaghy (2), Don Hegarty and Willie Gillespie hit the goals, but Naomh Colmcille’s resolve was tested when Gerard Doherty struck a goal for Carn in the first minute of the second half.

At one stage, Carndonagh reeled the deficit in to three points, but Naomh Colmcille shook their heads clear to finish well.

“Job done, but it didn’t feel like it in the second half,” Curran – whose side led by eight points at half-time – told Donegal Sport Hub.

“We need to start playing full games or we’ll be found out. We have a lot to improve on, but we’ll get back at it in training on Tuesday night.

“We were in a similar situation in Buncrana. When a team is that far out with nothing to lose they just come at you. We showed a bit of inexperience to let them get the goal and we were on the back foot until the last ten minutes when we got a grip of it again.”
