Audio: Finn Harps boss Ollie Horgan vows his side will ‘fight’ for survival

Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan has vowed that his team will ‘fight’ to the finish in 2017 as they strive to survive in the Premier Division.

Harps’ quest to remain in the top flight has been made even harder with confirmation that three teams will be relegated as the League reverts to a ten-team Premier for 2018.

“We know what we’re going into,” he said at today’s 2017 SSE airtricity League of Ireland

“It will certainly be a battle. It was a battle with one team going down, but it’s triple the battle now. We found it difficult to go up and we found it more difficult to stay up. It will be more difficult again to stay in the Division.”

Horgan has added the likes of Danny Morrissey, Killian Cantwell, Ciaran O’Connor, Jonny Bonner and Harry Doherty to his ranks for the new season, which kicks off against Cork City on Friday-week at Finn Park.

Horgan said: “We will fight. Realistically, you’re looking at teams with bigger budgets.

“If it finishes that way, we’re in bother. So long as we don’t drift away and stay competitive to the end. Even if we went down in that case, it mightn’t be the worst of seasons.”
