DEAN LARKIN wants Bonagee United to push on towards silverware this season.

Aidan McCauley’s second half goal started the new season off to a winning start against Fanad United on Sunday at Dry Arch Park.

There was plenty of promise on show, but Fanad face a tricky assignment at Derry City Reserves tomorrow evening in their second group game in the League Cup.

“We play Derry on Wednesday and that’s no easy job,” Larkin told Donegal Sport Hub.

“It was important to win against Fanad. We knew at half-time we needed to up it and we were brilliant in the second half.

“It was a tough game. We played Fanad six or seven times last year and they were all tough. It was important to get off to a good start in the Cup.”

Peter Moran has added the likes of McCauley and Gareth Wade to the ranks at Bonagee and Larkin believes they can force their way into contention.

He said: “We had a full squad today and I think we’ll push on. Hopefully we’ll get a good run in the Cup and push as far as we can in the League.”
