Audio: Collie Farrell disappointed with defeat, but Letterkenny may get reprieve

LETTERKENNY COACH COLLIE FARRELL felt that his side should have defeated PSNI in the Gordon West Cup, but may yet be given a reprieve.

Letterkenny lost 22-19 after extra time in Drumahoe, but it was in controversial circumstances.

The PSNI hooker went off injured on 55 minutes, but PSNI had no replacements and, thereafter, the scrums went uncontested. The matter could be revisited.

“What happens I’ll leave to the powers that be,” Letterkenny RFC Farrell told Donegal Sport Hub after the game.

“I was told that we were allowed to have two substitutes for this game and one had to be a front row sub. We complied with that and we worked hard on our scrums. That was what our focus was on today.”

On the game, Farrell said: “I thought that we controlled the game in the first half, but we went to sleep or took the feet off the pedal and we conceded some soft scores.”
