THE DONEGAL LEAGUE made it into the last eight of the Oscar Traynor Cup this afternoon.

The side managed by Brian Dorrian were 3-2 winners at the Moss in Drumoghill against the United Churches League in the last 12.

Chris Malseed captained the Donegal team, who now can look forward to a home tie against the North Eastern Football League for a place in the last four of the competition that was won by the Inishowen League last year.

“It was nice to go in at half-time 2-1 in the lead,” Malseed said. “For a big physical side we dealt with them well in the air. It was backs to the wall at the end. You’re just hanging on for dear life. We finished strongly though and it shows the effort being put in.

“Another home draw in the next round is good and anything can happen now.”
