The Donegal Women’s League are accepting applications for new and existing teams for the 2018 season.

The League Executive advises all clubs, both new and existing, that the closing date for applications is Friday, March 2nd.

Application forms have been circulated to clubs. Any club, from under-8 to senior, who didn’t receive a form is asked to contact Donegal Women’s League Secretary Johnny Baird by email on donegalwomensleague@outlook.com

The closing date is strict and entries will not be accepted after that date.

The Donegal Women’s League AGM took place on Wednesday evening in the Mount Errigal Hotel.

Chairman Dessie Kelly reflected on a good season in 2017.

“It’s great to see so many teams,” Mr Kelly said.

“We have to thank the managers and the coaches who are doing marvellous work with the teams. Long may our numbers keep increasing. The managers are the reason the League is growing.

“We have had a lot of players represent the League at Inter-League level and at international level. Those were real highlights, as was the presentation night, which was brilliantly attended.”

Mr Kelly hailed those who had been central in obtaining an entry for the Donegal Women’s League into the National U17 League. He said the inception of the North West Women’s Super League had been another boost and hoped the participating numbers would increase for 2018.

There were 472 players registered in the Donegal Women’s League from U8 to senior level in 2017.

Clubs are further reminded that their player registrations must be accompanied by birth certificate and passports.

FAI Development Officer Shane Barr attended the meeting and briefed clubs on the Club Development programme, the Soccer Sisters, Club-School Link and the Futsal Programme.
