Aodh Ruadh progress to the last four of the Intermediate Championship by well-beating a Gaeil Fhánada side who failed to compete in every department.

Aodh Ruadh 4-9 Fhánad Gaels 0-7

The early stages didn’t reflect the chemistry of the game as Aodh Ruadh dominated profusely winning by a 14 point margin.

Michael Sweeney and Eoghan Carr at full forward provided hope for Fhánad in the first 15 minutes but the Aodh Ruadh defence stuck to their task, especially Oisin Rooney, who didn’t fail in his defensive duties all afternoon.

Midway through the first-half, Aodh Ruadh took control when Nathan Boyle setting up Shane McGrath found the netting – Fhánad will rue their missed chance in front of goal, poor finishing at fault for their reckless profligacy.

Before the interval, James O’Donnell outfit out of sorts, repeatedly pulling up with injuries that caused nine minutes of additional time before the end of the first period.

However, Aodh Ruadh did significant damage with the time they had, David McGurrin brilliantly securing five points to his impressive tally for the season.

Ruadh didn’t have it all there own way but Fhánad”s attacks proved unfatal, Eamon McGrath adding the only score before the end of the half.

In the second half, Ruadh continued to dominate, Shane McGrath snatching another goal putting out of sight against a tired looking Fhánad side.

David McGurrin bagged a wonderfully worked goal for Aodh Ruadh in injury time of the second half, Eddie Lynch, Darren Drummond, Eamon McGrath, Michael Ward, who dealt the final blow with another point, were all involved.
