ABBEY VOCATIONAL SCHOOL are flying the flag for Donegal in this year’s Markey Cup.

Pauric O’Donnell’s side will take on Fermanagh Schools at Garvahey, the Tyrone GAA Centre of Excellence, on Wednesday at 7pm in the final of the Ulster Schools’ GAA Under-18A competition with Cavan’s Conor Dourneen refereeing.

The Donegal town side overcame Bailieboro Community School in the replayed semi-final last month, while the Fermanagh amalgamation have already got the better of St Columba’s Stranorlar and St Columba’s Comprehensive School from Glenties in the last eight and last four respectively.

Abbey are appearing in the final for the first time and will be looking to follow in the footsteps on Cólaiste na Carraige, who won the title in 2015. For their part, the Carrick based school are awaiting confirmation on their Under-16A Markey Cup final fixture, where they will face Breifne College from Cavan.
